Diggin'Dukes

Diggin’Dukes 2023 is scheduled to take place on Tuesday, November 28 (Giving Tuesday). 

Diggin’Dukes is a JMU Athletics online giving campaign and opportunity for the JMU Athletics community to come together to support JMU student-athletes with gifts to individual sport program funds.

Gifts of any size will make a BIG difference to the sport program(s) of your choice and directly impact the JMU student-athlete experience including, but not limited to: Scholarships | Health & well-being | Academic success | Travel | Facilities | Experiential Resources

Due to the generosity of donors and challenge hosts, gifts made during Diggin’Dukes have the opportunity to earn bonus funds for individual sport program funds.

This means your gift has the opportunity to go further and make an even bigger impact. 

Additionally, bonus funds will be awarded to the top three sport program funds with the most donors (will be determined based on a team roster-size equation).

Program fund with the most donors will receive $5,000 bonus funds;

Program fund with 2nd most donors will receive $3,000 bonus funds; and

Program fund with 3rd most donors will receive $2,000 bonus funds.

With Diggin’Dukes taking place exclusively on Tuesday, November 28, we know that your schedule may not allow you to participate during business hours. But great news — you can make your gift online anytime on November 28 (from 12:00 a.m. to 11:59 p.m.) at diggindukes.com.

Yes, if your gift is made to a JMU sports program, your gift is entirely tax-deductible. You will receive an email confirmation for gifts made through the Diggin’Dukes site. In addition, you will receive a printed tax receipt through the mail. For more information regarding tax deductibility on your gift to JMU athletics, please call the JMU Duke Club at (540) 568-6461.

If you make a gift to the Duke Club, the annual fund of JMU Athletics, you will receive benefits that are not tax deductible. Tax law does not allow a deduction on gifts to athletics used to receive ticket benefits.

Online gifts will NOT be anonymous. James Madison University will have access to relevant gift information such as name, address and email for receipting purposes.

However, you may choose to hide your name and/or your donation amount on the Diggin’Dukes Donor Wall.

Credit Card: One of the easiest and most convenient ways to make a donation is to use a credit card.

The Duke Club accepts Mastercard, Visa, Discover, and American Express.

If you are an individual donor interested in making your gift go further, consider:

Making a Challenge Gift — a gift for which the donor sets a goal, financial or number of donors, to encourage participation. If the goal is met or exceeded additional funds are unlocked that go to benefit the sport program the challenge was supporting.

Making a Matching Gift — a gift that is made by an individual donor that is matched by the company at which the individual donor works. You can double or even triple your gift! Hundreds of companies will match your donations to JMU (Your spouse's company may even qualify). Search for your employer or company name here. Note: We are listed in most systems as James Madison University Foundation, Inc.

The information collected during Diggin’Dukes will be used only by James Madison University.

Sport program funds are restricted-use funds that can only be utilized by the individual sport program. Gifts made to sport program funds are 100% tax deductible.

The Duke Club is the fundraising arm of JMU Athletics. Gifts to the Duke Club are made to the Proud & True Fund and benefit all 18 varsity sport programs, cheerleading, and the JMU Athletics general operating budget. Duke Club/Proud & True gifts are associated with donor benefits (such as game tickets and parking) and are not 100% tax deductible.
