Below you will find answers to many common questions about JMU Giving Day 2021.
What is JMU Giving Day all about?
JMU Giving Day is a 24-hour, online fundraising event that gives the JMU family—alumni, parents, students, faculty, staff, and friends—the chance to come together to show their pride in James Madison University and support key fundraising priorities across campus.
How can my gift be counted toward JMU Giving Day?
On March 23, 2021, call in or come back to the Giving Day site to make your gift and be counted for the day. If your gift qualifies for any of our 30+ challenges it will automatically be counted in those as well.
Who can participate?
Everyone! Support from alumni, parents, students, faculty, staff, and friends will be the key to success on JMU Giving Day 2021!
Where does my gift go?
You can choose to designate your gift to one of the university’s priority funds or any of your favorite academic programs. Go to the home page to select where you would like to designate your gift.
How can I help spread the word?
Your voice will make JMU Giving Day 2021 a success. Post about JMU Giving Day on all of your social networks using #JMUGivingDay. Tell your friends about JMU Giving Day and sign up to be one of our ambassadors!
Is my payment secure?
Yes! All payments will be processed using a secure online giving form. The information collected during JMU Giving Day will be used only by James Madison University.
Can I make a gift by mail or phone?
Due to the tight time period of JMU Giving Day, only gifts made online or over the phone on March 23 will count toward our overall totals and competitions. If you would like to make a gift by phone, please call (855) 568-4483.
Will my gift be tax-deductible?
Yes, except for some athletics gifts, your gift is entirely tax deductible. You will receive an email confirmation that may serve as your receipt for tax purposes. The new tax law does not allow a deduction on gifts to athletics used to receive ticket benefits. All gifts to athletics unrelated to these benefits are 100 percent tax-deductible. For more information regarding tax deductibility on your gift to JMU athletics, please call the JMU Duke Club at (540) 568-6461.
Can I make my gift anonymously?
Online gifts will NOT be anonymous, James Madison University will have access to relevant gift information such as name, address and email for receipting purposes. However, you may choose to hide your name and/or your donation amount on the Donor Wall.

What is the Keep Going Dukes Challenge?
Anyone who signs up for our JMU Giving Day Ambassador program gets access to a personal giving link. Get 5 different people to give through that link and you'll win a free t-shirt.
How do I ensure my gift is counting towards someone's Keep Going Dukes Challenge?
All you need to do is make sure you make your gift through their personal link. They can find it on their JMU Giving Day Ambassador dashboard and share it with you.
How do I get my JMU Giving Day themed playing cards?
Make a $15 gift or more to the Madison Vision Fund to receive a deck of exclusive JMU Giving Day themed playing cards. Please note that supplies are limited...get them before they're gone! Only one set per transaction.
