JMU Libraries: Now more than ever!
JMU Libraries has always been the premier source for books, journals, videos, music, and more. Every day we work to support students and professors by helping them find and use information, learn new technologies, and grow new ideas that make the world a better place.
Access, equity, and inclusion are foundational to the JMU Libraries. We work to combat the rising cost of textbooks by helping to create open-access educational resources. We are renegotiating journal subscriptions to strengthen our commitment to affordability, accessibility, and equity. Now more than ever, we strive to cultivate creative mindsets, address society’s most pressing problems, and provide safe, welcoming spaces where everyone can do their best work. The Libraries’ mission is to support our users’ search for and creation of knowledge, in whatever media it takes.
When COVID hit in 2020 our commitment only intensified. We mobilized to offer hundreds of virtual workshops. We immediately increased our online collections. And we made our buildings safe. Now more than ever, the Libraries are the cornerstone of the JMU experience.
Library spaces are quiet and safe these days, with students still relying on the collections and equipment that the Libraries provide. Now more than ever, the faculty and staff in the Libraries are busy exploring ways to support the JMU community. We are learning new skills. We are buying new materials. We are using the full force of our expertise and technology infrastructure to assure that all students finish strong.
