Though our world is increasingly interconnected, we constantly face obstacles that prevent meaningful exchange: distance, language, and expense are chief among them. In recognition of these obstacles, The Center for Global Engagement’s mission is to broaden worldviews and promote global understanding by cultivating, facilitating, and supporting international engagement. Your donation will make international experiences more accessible to fellow Dukes like Bella (story featured above), who dream of reaching new global heights.
Our work is split into three units: The International Student and Scholars Services unit supports students, faculty, and staff who have joined our Madison family from 90+ different countries around the world. The Global Learning and Partnerships unit promotes global competency through initiatives such as Global Virtual Exchange and the Peace Corps Prep Program. Finally, our Study Abroad unit works hard to provide students with lifechanging experiences and innovative programs, some of which have been running for over 40 years (Semester in London). CGE’s work is designed to cultivate understanding, facilitate new connections, and reinforce JMU’s global footprint.
