College of Health and Behavioral Studies

JMU is an innovative leader in health and human service education. Your gift supports JMU’s proven track record of providing innovative educational opportunities for our students.  For the College of Health and Behavioral Studies, this means helping support the collaborative and inter-professional culture which prepares our students for making an impact in the community and world.  Recent Giving Day contributions helped the Department of Psychology implement the Summer Research Experience for Underrepresented Undergraduate (SREUU) program, providing engaged learning opportunities for students who are historically underrepresented, first-generation students, or transfer students.

Your support provides our students—our future health and human service providers—with indispensable real-world, service-based experiences that also provide real care to real people right now.  Because of your gift, our students graduate carrying this ethos with them whether they are nurses, psychologists, health educators, social workers, audiologists, dietitians or health research assistants.  Your gift makes these opportunities possible. A gift of $25, for example, could purchase a listening stethoscope for the Communication Sciences and Disorders program.

CHBS Dean’s Innovative Development Fund

Gifts to the Dean’s Innovation Fund support important, leading-edge programs and coursework that need special funding and can’t happen otherwise — mainly because federal funding and other grants follow a decision cycle that’s too slow to keep pace with the constant, rapid changes in the field of health and wellness. When you invest in the Innovation Fund, you help CHBS stay on top of what’s happening today so our students can continue Being the Change tomorrow.
